PSEUDOMYXOMA PERITONEI CAN BE CURED

Previously, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) has been treated with debulking surgery and systemic chemotherapy in palliative intent. Sugarbaker has described the peritonectomy techniques in 1995 and intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy applications. Since then, extensive effort has been performed to cure patients with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) in worldwide.

Today, pseudomyxoma peritonei is accepted as can be curable disease with cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC (hyperthermic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy). If the patients with PMP at the beginning of the disease or having limited disease, they can be cured.

The Centers of excellence for evaluation and treatment of Peritoneal Surface Malignancies in worldwide including TURKEY are happy to help the patients with PMP for the indication of HIPEC (hyperthermic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy). Systemic treatment can not cure the patients with PMP.
